My Academic Research On Blogging As Self Therapy

Normally, I don’t really reveal my name in my own blog or other Social Network Sites (SNS) especially like Twitter and Facebook because to me, my real name is private. Or maybe I think Kelly Tan is pretty enough to describe me. Yes?

However, it is a bit different today. I reveal my long name here for the very first time (I suppose) because I am proud with my GOLD IN COLOR NAME on my academic research. Though I have made this nearly couple of months ago, still I am a proud owner of this boring-black-in-color-hard-cover-academic-research-book. Why am I calling it in such a long term? If I can blink my book, I will. Lol.

Anyway, it is interesting because of the title *wink*

I do look like a nerd. Well, this is the time where I can claim that I’m proud to be one with that book holding in my hand.. =D

I score A- for this work and is ready to present it in an International Conference next week (well, I am not really satisfy with my work but that is the best I can give despite of the time limit, exhaustion from personal issues and lacking of resources. Anyway, I have over come them pretty good and it’s over).

So, yes. It’s next week babe. Frankly, I am crazily nervous. I have not… em… well, I presented once last year in a conference in my university but that was different as I have other 5 members to backup. This time, I am presenting my own research topic and it is about BLOGGING!

thesis2 My juniors can check my work out in our faculty library. Sounds cool to me ^^

You heard me? BLOGGING!!!

*Whoohoot*

The title of my academic research:

“A Phenomenology Research On Blogging Experience and The Possibility of Self-Therapy For An Undergraduate Student In University Of Malaya”

A friend of me once told me nonchalantly that I can treat my future client/patient by asking them to blog daily for counseling purposes. And I was like, “Hey! that’s a real good idea”. Lol.. So now, who wanna be my clients? =P

Haha.. Well, wish me luck. Really. I. Need. Blessing.

Xpax Shout! At The Library

You know what?

When I first received the invitation to Xpax Shout party at the Library, I seriously thought of this…. [see photo below]

xpax26 Ok. I’m just acting. I don’t really read boring, old books (unless i’ve no choice) =(

Updated: But netbook, papers and pencil box are real. No acting. lol.

Well, I’ve been spending most of my time in my campus library looking for relevant data for my research study since the beginning of the semester. Objects which I see the most are books, journals and magazines. I seriously think that I can make UM library as my second home… =_=

xpax7

Of course, the Library which I was being invited is obviously 10th times different. I believe, it should be one of the most happening pubs in this city. Thanks to Xpax from Celcom for offering me 2 free VIP passes so that I can bring my friend.

xpax4  Me with hat

xpax5 She with gorgeous hairband and her name is June =)

Seriously, I am glad to receive free passes where June and I can skip the long, i mean looooooooooooooooong queue before the entrance or might just leave and go back.

xpax6

Our VIP passes

Go Back!!? Alright, you know I am just kidding.. Cos how can i leave when I know it’s going to be a happening night? I still can wait if I was lining in the queue as there are cool prizes and rock bands!

xpax3

I did fill up but no one call pun. so no free prizes =/

xpax8

Looking at this big ‘X’ it remains me of this tagline, “Ada X, ada Pax ada Segalaya

See how happening this Xpax Shout party is! I have never been to anything as rock as this. I am glad that I wore something ‘rock and bold’ for this event. It fits the theme and the atmosphere. Scroll down if you don’t believe me (how dare you)

The mood in The Library with no real books.

Besides cool prizes and rock bands, I have made new friends with new bloggers during in the event. It is great to catch up with the blogging community once in awhile. Well, I realized there are so many new bloggers lately and I am learning to remember all these new faces. Suddenly, I feel myself getting older.. *sob*

Thank Jac and Xpax for the invites. I have great time there. Looking forward for the Xpax Shout! Awards this coming 20th November at Bukit Jalil.

My LURVE Affair with my Readers

People always says, blog whatever you want and share whatever you like in your blog. One of the main reason is because you own it and you are the blogger. So, there is nothing you can't write in your own special space other than yourself (of course, as long as it has nothing to do with ISA, abusive content or you named them).

Well, I do agree with them as I love my personal site and admire how my brains work every time I blog something new. We all know that writing, photography and photo editing use both of the right and left brains, yes? Other than keeping my brains working, it is also because of my loyal readers who have never stopped supporting and encouraging me ever since my first attempt in writing a post.

I remember Dalicia happen to be my first reader as well as my first commenter. There is no way I would forget about this sweet lady. Of course, I will not forget my other readers who are also bloggers and my friends keep coming back, checking how I am from time to time.

Some even motivate and encourage me during my down moments. I remember when I received bad critiques from 'some people' who think I am not perfect enough. They critique on my writings and worse on my appearance (something I can't and will not change). Frankly, such ignorance comments did bother me. I even thought of shutting down my blog. Well, I obviously not doing so because I realize that I love myself. I love being who I am and this belief grows stronger each time I read your supportive comments:

The time when others demotivating me:

The time when I have reached my 21st Birthday and blogged a post about it:

The time when my grandma, my loved one left me, forever.

No matter you are committed into my commenting system or not, I can still sense your footprints. Well, are you asking how do I know you are here? Em... there is always Sitemeter which does all the exploring and examining work. It counts the number of visitors and lists down all the links which come to my blog every single day.

I know, my number of readers isn't high and it is inconsistent each month. You know what, I don't mind if my readership is low. What I care the most is the sincere comments which I received from my readers. Those who treat me as a friend and respect whoever I am is something I treasure the most.

This is me.

I shall thanks to all my RSS readers too who have been subscribing to my blog feeds. It is such a pleasure to see the number grows each time I glance at the meter. How sweet.. :)

Thus, why can't I love my readers more?

And why can't I say they mean so much to me as they are one of the reasons I am still keeping this blog for more than 2 years.
If it is not because of the unconditional love I received everyday from you, this blog might not survive for the first 6 months. Call me stupid or unprofessional. Well, I don't mind what others might say because this is honestly what I feel so far.

Can you spot 1/2 picture of a baby?

Knowing that Lurve, the new flavored mutigrain chips product from Kraf is organizing a blog competition, I decided to participate and write a love post for all my readers who have never failed to curve a smile on my face. I want you to know that you guys mean a lot to me and thanks for creating such a memorable memory in my life. All your supporting and humorous comments will never been forgotten and I will treasure them as long as my comment systems allow me to do so.

I strongly believe that Lurve can show my sincerity and love to all my readers (you of course) as there are nothing as original as this. Why? Because there is no artificial colouring and no added preservatives which will allow anyone to chew the original taste of wheat, oats, rice, corn and sunflower seeds in each 'crispy bite'.

So my dear Curryegg's readers, this genuine post is for you.
Lurve you!
<3

Banner Is Back & New Layout!

OK.
I did it again.

I have changed my blog layout within a week.
So, these are what you want (the majority voice) according to your comment and the poll result:

  1. Curryegg's Banner - It's Back!
  2. The warm, spicy, eggie atmosphere - It's HERE!
  3. A two & three sidebar column - 2 in 1
  4. Wider post body - weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
  5. Better comment system - I hope so.

It took me nearly 3 days to customize this whole layout. The good news is, I wasn't so stress while editing the html code comparing to my first attempt. Instead, I start to understand the 'odd language' better. Thus, it has allowed me to add my 'curry bowl' beside every blog post title. AWESOME! I seriously like this idea a lot. Feel so much like CurryEgg. If you can enlarge the image, you will see eggs in the curry bowl.

Besides, I am using eggie favicon again! You can spot it beside my blog link in the window. Or, if you are reading my blog post via email (RSS), you might realize my favicon. Weeeeeee.... It is good to have it again after being forgotten for 1 year.

Special Note: So Anne, can you feel the curriness+egginess in my blog now? This is what you requested, right? Lol..

So my dear readers, what do you think?
Do you like this layout and the comment system?

Do let me know your opinion. I would love to hear your response. By the way, I will have to rearrange my widgets on my sidebars. Kinda mess.

P/s:
Thanks for your comments on my previous layout. You guys have really help me a lot in searching for the best layout for CurryEgg by providing me your comments. Thanks.. ;)

Proximidade Award

Finally...
Finally...
Finally...

It is my turn to post up my 'Thank You' post to both of my generous blogger friends, Dead_Cockroach and Popjammerz. I will have my one week holiday starting by tomorrow.

Yiipppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is time to catch up some undone posts and let my first post be this one- the most interesting one, shall we?

*wink*

About a week ago, I was being rewarded with this Proximidade Award. Thank you, thank you! A little sweet, motivating message is attached together and it sounds like this:

This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

And here are my lucky 8 people.
1) Dalicia
2) Wendy
3) Paul
4) Suresh
5) Anne
6) Joanne
7) Andrew
8) 3poin8

If you are not in the list, don't worry. I will tag you next time when there is another awards. Wait for me! :D

Italiannies- Nuffnang Sharing Session

My life without a camera is so dull and everyone who has read my previous post must know about it. That is why I'm extremely late for my Nuffnang Sharing Session post. *sorry*

Well better late than nothing right? XD

The main reason of my procrastination is because of, I have to wait every blogger who attended the session to edit and post up their photos. Then, I will be the photo-stealer by grabbing all the photos and post them in my blog.

Muahahaha... I sound so evil... XD

So, before I blog about my fantastic moment in Italiannies (The Garden, KL), do allow me to give credits to Jeffro, Bryan, Simon, Superwilson, Anne, Yi May and Debra. Thank for all the photos! You guys have brighten my Italiannies post (and my day with you all).

Dinning in Italiannies is a real great adventure for me. Firstly, it was my first Nuffnang sharing session in which I meet bloggers in a smaller group (compare to other big event of Nuffnang such as Traffic Jam, Pajamas Party, Animal Costume Party and Halloween Party). Wait, I've attended 4 Nuffnang Big Parties? Wow!

Secondly, I have met a number of nice people during in this gathering! Gosh! I feel so lucky. Seriously, I am. I really enjoy the 'Italiannies moment' with these people:

Thank again to Bryan for his work. He snapped, edited and linked everyone of us in just a few days. See, how fast and lovely he is. Thank again!

Here are those food we had according to their special menu. I am really impressed with the way they presented the food and the unforgetable taste. Frankly, I've never been to any Italian Restaurant so far (exclude pizza Hut, Kenny Roger and Shakey Pizza. They are all American...)

I really loooooooooooooooovee the mini pizza they served. They taste soooooooooo pizza. Of course, it tastes much nicer and original than others (Pizza Hut, Domino and Shakey Pizza) with all those herbs, quality cheese and good baking skills.

Emmmmm... mamamiah!

Oops!
Not to forget their signature dish - The Bowl Of Pasta!!!!
We were served with 10 different types of pasta and I just couldn't believe it as I failed to feed myself with these 10-different-taste-of-pasta. I guess Anne, Jeff and Simon felt the same.

Ahhwwwww.... WHAT A WASTE!!!

Among all, I prefer Angelic Hair (thin spaghetti with tomato source) as I love its taste. If I could add a bit of cheese on top of it, I believe it will taste better.. :)

Bryan, good job again for this pictures!

This is the Chocolate Cheese cake which I just manage to have a bite on it. Sigh... Those pasta had already taken all the room in my stomach. Aikss!

Wait wait...
Where is my Sunshine Tropical drink?
Ahhwww..... Jeffro, it is in your camera..... Can I have it? :P

The drink was made by 3 different fruit - pineapple, banana and mango. Emm... I'm not sure whether is it a mango or lime. I have to check the list again. Well, it tastes fantastic and I love it! Thank to the waiter who recommended this drink to me.. :)

This is the room which was reserved for all the VIP - Emmm.. em.... we, the 20 Nuffnangers and Nuffnang Staff. Geee... Isn't that cool?
XD

And KY, the food specialist was invited and he is the 'featured man'!

hahaha.. Seriously, he is friendly and funny. Lolx... Glad to be there and witness his super-duper-intriguing-DSLR accessories. It is like every blogger's dream. Ah man! No wonder I name you as the 'food specialist'. You deserve it! Hahaha....

:)

Come.. and feel the atmosphere... warm and comfortable... :)

Me, Jeffro and Anne (the lovely couple)... XD

Simon and me.. :)
Emm... Couldn't they stop attacking each other using the lamb bones? It's kinda weird... >.< Wuooot! Us!
:D

Debra and Victoria. They are siblings and I'm glad to have a short conversation with them. Nice girls.. :)

The young group - Yi May, Jou Yin and Josephine. They are just 16. I wanna be in secondary school again.. ahww.... By the way, it's my pleasure to know them.. Keep in touch girls! :D

Another cool group photo I have from Jeffro. This time, I am with Nicholas (the baby sister, kekekz..), Firdauz, Karena (karipop), Bryan and Ruion (who called me Ostrich egg and I don't know why. Hmph!)

=__=

Here are the best moment:
Group photos!

Haha... Again, it took us like... 15-20minutes? It was long and it happened all the time when they are a great number of cameras around.. Just imagine, each blogger with one camera (excluded me). That's mean, there will be around 15-19 cameras! Whuuoohh....

Anyway, only few cameras were used in order to save time and that's what I call brilliant!

Right now, at 1.00am, I am missing those pasta and pizza from Italiannies. I feel so hungry. Emmm... I wonder when will I go there again.

P/s: I'm looking forward to meet you guys again in future event or gathering and have fun together! Will we? Fingers crossed... :)
